9000kms "on the clock" and 9000kms on the bike, are two completely different things. If the MC28 has been modified to run an HRC card for example, it won't have clocked any mileage since the modification.

As mtec666 says, you're looking at a bike that's over 20 years old now [if it's a genuine Rothmans SP, 1994 model], that hasn't been run for what reason, exactly? I don't want to be doom and gloom all the time, but every 1989~1997 crank we've pulled apart has had a dead centre seal. It's just how it is. Many seals just come out in a number of broken up parts. Ethanol in the fuel isn't helping them, but neither does leaving them standing for extended periods, in my opinion.

What is important is the overall general condition of the rest of the bike, for the asking price. Is its appearance in keeping with 9000kms/5600 miles?

A crank is going to be about £500, plus about another £500-600 in the parts to rebuild the motor [if you do the top-end too], if you do it yourself. I would strongly advise you take that into account in your budget with ANY sold-as-seen NSR250. We've seen a lot of bikes passed off as good in the last 2 years, that really weren't!

Don't take anything with a high asking price at face value without receipts... a lot of them, would be my advice.
