We've seen plenty of "short" barrels, with 2+ stamps from re-platers. I agree with Poul, as the front cylinder is especially sensitive to compression changes/detonation.

Yes, it is a service we offer, although it's probably not the most economic solution unless we're providing a complete motor rebuild.
As a company, we probably/possibly get a more flexible service from the [various] re-platers we use, but we do have overheads and of course have to charge for our services.
