Hello Andy,

Thanks for the very usefull information. This particular 1990 MC-21 bike has the R109 colour code on its rear sub frame. Therefore it can only be the Passion red base colour with the black trim, if the sub-frame is the orignal one?

Not sure how common this colour option was, but I have not seen many for sale.

Currently the bike has a non standard purple paint job - not a factory colour at the time.

The fairings have been repainted at some point, and some were originally red abs, some white abs, and some black abs. The tank looks like it was lifted off a "base white with red trim" model as there is red overspray on the forward lower third of the tank, thus suggesting a white/red factory paint job.

But as you elude to, the rear subframe may have been changed....

If I had to make a best guess, and it wouldn't be any more than that, I would say that the tank was taken from a doner bike and resprayed. Some of the bikes current farings were orinally red, but the front cowl is not. However the insulation tape on the wiring under the front cowl has remenents of a red color - probably were the wiring has rubbed on the red abs fairing. I can see this on other locations of the bike as well. Therefore I'm leaning towards the bike originally being Passion Red. Appart from the non-standard paint job, the bike is original in every other way as far as I can tell.

Thanks again,

Frank
