No Spark - ? Side-Stand Wiring

Simon W » Tue Jul 17, 2018 12:16 pm

Hi, need help.
Just finished full MC21 rebuild. New everything. All ancillaries connected. The bugger will not run. There is no spark from either plug. Pre-rebuild all the electrics were OK - it was just the crank that needed attention.
Checked the Coils=good, New Plugs New Battery, fully charged, TPS=Good, Kill Switch=good, Side stand Switch=good. Pick-up not checked yet (tomorrow night!). Main switch turns on the headlight/intruments and Powervalve motor is moving.
Frustrating night in the shed tonight with a multi-meter and a manual. None of electrics were touched (apart from removing pickups & stator for the rebuild).
Pulled the PGM3 tonight (god please, don't let it be the PGM). The G/W plug from the 16 pin black connector will not ground. Side-stand up or down. It's supposed to ground with the side-stand up, but won't. The side-stand light comes on and off like it should. I've got correct continuity from the side stand switch in up/down positions.
I feel like I might have found the issue, but want to rule out anything else that's obvious. It doesn't make sense to me that wiring could sit completely untouched for a couple of months and suddenly there's an issue.
Yes, the kill switch is in the RUN position! LOL
Any help or suggestions much appreciated. Feeling like I'm missing something really obvious (apart from an electrical engineering degree which might be helpful about now....)
Cheers, Simon.
