I've only ever lubed the valve shaft with a little 2T oil on assembly. You need to check if the shafts are rattling in the steel inserts [in the barrels], if it's the flap valves themselves rattling on the shaft, or a combination of the two. If the RC Valves are rattling though, odds on are they are worn and need replacing. It is however possible that a little slack in the cables can allow the valves to "rock" slightly.
Any grease you assemble them with will melt away in no time, unless you can get your hands on some stupidly expensive specialist grease from somewhere like the foundry industry. Assembling with grease is just trying to mask a problem though in my opinion, and there's a [slight] possibility that one day a worn valve flap may touch a piston. That will, at best, destroy the cylinder, and worst case, destroy the motor.
