wow its been 2 months since i really worked on my bike..
about a month back i went for a run, and it kept dying on me...
i had recently put in an inline fuel filter, but i knew that wasnt the cause..
seems my float bowls were damp and not sealing properly
so my bike would end up starving for fuel after a few miles i think..?
if i sat for 30 seconds, the bike would start right up and then got a mile or so and do the same thing.
Question # 1:
is there a Replacement part for the rubber float bowl seals???
or just use some hondabond under them to raise them up a bit?
So last night i throw in the Denso W27EMRC spark plugs and also change the mains to 132.5, i tightened up the float bowls pretty good, so they are only oozing a little fuel, but not too much..
went for a quick zip and sure enough the bike dies in half a mile.. grrr..
oh wait, i am almost out of gas, flip to reserve go for a few miles with no problems.... nice.... lets ring her out a bit braaaaaaaaa braaaaa
long uphill i get her up to around 150kph. I'm pumped, i might actually get to start riding this thing!!! so i ride for a few miles, do a loop around a small lake nearby etc.. bout a 10 min ride or so.
So im thinking hmm i need a real test, im gonna ride her to work today
23 miles i think.. the bike fires right up this morning, on choke.
let it run like that for about 1 minute, then half choke for 1 min then no choke, while im getting my helmet gloves on etc..
right as i pull my gloves on the bike starts dieing like a flooded 2 stroke does, so i run to the throttle and start blipping it for all im worth, and it almost came out of it, but then died..
arggggggggggggghhh...
so now im running late for work and have to take one of my cars..
So question # 2 : is it normal for NSR's to foul plugs at idle?
should i not warm up the beast while sitting, and just jump on and ride nice for the first few minutes?
i really am starting to wish i bought that nice ZX9 i saw a few weeks ago
