Like I said, pretty much anything can be modified to fit one way or another.
Some clamps are very wide, so with the extra diameter of the fork tube over standard, steering angle can be very compromised. OK for racing, but not too convenient on the street.
My 300 has a poxy turning radius, but i don't care. Basically because I've got an F3 rad, so I don't want that crunched.
If the forks don't fit the triples, (ie, you're mixing and matching), then that's not a huge problem either. We've bored out the clamps (up to 1mm OD), and also made bushes to reduce diameters, with no ill effects that you'd notice unless you were battling with Pedrosa for the lead. It's simple engineering and (almost) anything is possible.
Concerning the RVF triples being cheese. It's probably true. A couple of years ago I spent the day at the circuit doing silly action shots and wheelie shots for a Hong Kong bike mag. By the end of the day the front end of the bike had raked out by about 3 degrees!
If you get your triples straightened, it's never a bad idea to crack test them afterwards. You can buy a three stage crack test spray which shows up any damage, or chances are that a good engineering shop will do it for you. You could even have them X-rayed if you really wanted to be sure, but buy then you'd have probably spent enough cash to have bought a brand new RS250 NA5 front end anyway!
