Initially I put a set of race tech valves in my forks but I just wasn't happy with them. Honestly the honda internals were not that much different from the race tech kit except the valving was set up for my weight.

I then talked to Ken at SB suspension (www.sbsuspension.com) and we discussed changing to an Ohlins damper, spring and oil. I shipped him the forks, he did the mods and sent me the old parts back. I'm very happy with how the forks are working. However, had I upgraded the spring with the race tech kit I may have had similar results. My recommendation at this point should be to first update the spring, make sure the inside is clean, and put in a good oil. You might find that is acceptable for your intended use.
