Hello BLUIE82911, and welcome to NSR-WORLD.

is it possible to use a 89 bottom end crank and case, with everything else 87 carburetor magneto clutch piston and cylinders

Is it possible? Yes... Would I recommend it, not really.

The first issue you will run into is the MC16 motor is solidly mounted in the frame. The second issue is the '89 bottom-end is significantly different, and could cause issues with setup and fine tuning. The '87-'88 flywheels are a different size to the '89-'96 models, although the crank tapers are all the same. The pulser coils will need repositioning. There are almost certainly other things I've not thought of off the top of my head.

Again, it's certainly doable; the bolt spacing on all of the barrels is the same, for example, making them effectively interchangeable, as are the intake manifolds, so no problem fitting an MC16 manifold to the MC18 cases and running the 28mm carbs, but if you're new to the NSR then it could stump you in a number of places along the way. If you like a little bit of a challenge though, go for it! I'm sure I speak for a number here saying that we'd love to see how you get on. 😀
