When you fit the transmission, be sure to keep an eye out for the spring that needs hooking into the casing. Many a time it's overlooked and the bearing carrier is cracked as the retaining screws are tightened.
Simple rule; if the bearing carrier doesn't simply fit fully into the housing just by hand, the end of the spring is trapped between it and the case. Don't think you can just tighten the screws and pull it into place. It'll break.
