Eric posted a method some time ago where you can perform a reversible version of the MC28 wiresplice, that doesn't involve cutting/soldering the harness...

I seem to recall someone also wiring in a relay to a switch, to do something similar, but I think it was on our old nsr250.com forum, some 25 years ago, and is long lost information unfortunately.
A spliced MC28 will run with a standard card, but it runs like crap in my personal opinion... and experience! The jetting requirements for either card differ too much to warrant even bothering to try. It's all or nothing. Anything else is a waste of time, I say. It was great marketing at the time, and hyped as simply exchanging cards, but we all know the reality as it turned out.
Honestly, I've never seen anyone really that bothered about using a stock card. Once you've liberated 60-odd horsepower with the HRC setup, you'll never want to go back! It's just very unfortunate about the cost and inconvenience with the MC28.
