Remove the 4 Cylinder Nuts & tap Cylinder Barrel lightly with Rubber Mallet or something similar to dislodge it from the seal with the Crankcase.
Rotate Crankshaft to push Piston to TDC and pull Cylinder Barrel (Rear Cylinder in image) upwards away from the Crankcase (support the Conrod by wrapping some Rag around it, yes I know, as you can see I didn’t!!) and away from the Piston.
Cylinder removed to reveal a moon landscape on Piston, something has gone terrible wrong in this Engine, no wonders it didn’t want to start very well!
Repeat above process on Front Cylinder. As you can see the Crankcase sits quite steadily in a vertical position.
The Cylinder Head nuts were slackened off beforehand so they can now be undone and the Heads removed. I didn’t bother removing the Heads as I was going to use MC18 Cylinder Barrels & Heads, although looking down the REAR Barrel revealed the Head was in a bit of a sorry state.
