Been reading Twist of the Wrist recently (again, as I'm doing level 2 of the California Superbike School on 1st July ) and Keith Code says some top riders can get a track sussed in just a few laps and a few don't even realise they are using reference points, they get that many ("every inch of the track, but not even the names of any of the corners"?) straight away.
And lucky luck lucky man.
