I don't run my throttle cables through the clamp on the frame, so they don't bind at all. They are also regularly oiled.

On the track it wouldn't matter too much (removing the closer) as there are provisions for running on/wide, but on the road a sticking throttle is a recipe for disaster, and a closing cable is not necessarily a must, but it is recommended I think personally.
