Hi Jamie, I've seen in another thread that you can get the black stuff off with a solvent called 'nitromors' or similar - I think you should be able to spot the blown component or track pretty easily if you get that far. I was going to try this on my MC16 CDI until I found one for $150 NZ at a local wreckers (that was VERY lucky). Good luck
