Fuel starvation?

stlambrick » Wed Jan 18, 2006 3:47 am

I recently did the wire splice and HRC jet kit/card mod to my 1995 MC28sp and it seems to run really strong and smooth. However while riding today I had a chance to really open it up and found that in 5th and 6th gear wide open at about 10k rpm it started to cut out like a fuel starvation problem. Could this be a float level problem? Do you have to change the float level setting with the big jets? Any ideas why it seems to be running out of fuel with a full tank. It only happens in 5th or 6th gear when wide open and above 10k rpm. I also had the bike appear to run out of gas and have to switch to reserve only to discover the tank was still half full and then run again after switching back to ON. Could it be a venting problem? It's a brand new petcock. How can I check if the vent is clear?
