A fake will always be just that..a fake as it wont have correct frame numbers etc to fetch the premium a classic bike in the future would. I reckon if your going to build a rothmans bike that is not a genuine SP then surely its better to make it look more like the real thing? ie gold wheels, bigger rothmans stickers (like Micks), if your bike is original then keep it that way as it will be worth more money in the future...then again, how many original SP are their left still with original fairing, exhausts, airboxes etc?
Thats my thought anyway, and like Fontyyy said "Horses for courses" really!!
Why build a fake eh! how many MC21 SP's in rothmans colours do you see I dont think ive ever seen one in the flesh
As for the frame numbers from what I can gather it's not that simple to track back what the actual bike left the factory as anyway, not that I would pass it off as anything else as I do not intend on selling it ( or is it ? if so can somebody enlighten me then ? )
The other thing which I am not 100% certain about now is whether to build a 'factory replica' or a 'GP replica' . I guess it will never be a full SP copy as I had wanted to leave the standard wet clutch on ( cant stand the noise of the jingly dry jobbie) and I also wanted to put some after market pipes so I guess ive contradicted myself allready .
Anyway thanks for the imput as it has given me something else to think about now.
