Living in Japan can't be beaten in terms of motorbikes in general, but especially 2-strokes and especially NSRs. I see them all the time riding around, and second-hand parts are cheap and common.
If you like getting to the track there are about ten within striking distance of Tokyo including Motegi, Suzuka, Mine and Fuji. Street riding in Tokyo is a bit hairy but you become hardened to it pretty quickly, and there's some great touring to be done (I have a well weathered TDM850 for that duty).
I don't speak much Japanese, just enough to get by, and when I first arrive a year and a half ago I spoke nothing. This place is not for everybody and it can be very tough living here but I love it. Come here and try it, you're unlikely to look back on it later in life and think "now that was a waste of time".
