Not harsh, very accurate. I'm sure we'd all take grubby over rusty & corroded any day. Seller apparently was not interested in expending any energy to improve the appearance. The full coating of cosmoline topped with 15+ years of dust and dirt accumulation served as terrific protection. A good (but careful) scrubbin' and it's like 1991 all over again.
