Beacuse I don't plan on doing anything to the cylinders. When Nikasil is new it doesn't have much of a hone on it, and when used it has even less. You need a hone to break in rings. Question is how much? Honing nikasil can't be done by the home mechanic. This has been a topic of many thousands of discussions with Porsche owners since they started using it on prodution cars in the early seventies. Some have had good luck, other not so good luck.
