Oh yes, it's a tonne faster than the average 250 mainly due to that big ol' mid range lump as it's useability, not outright power is king if we're on about speed, laptimes etc.
Basically the 300 rider has got another 800 rev's of leyway to allow him to get a gear wrong, or change at a more appropriate time and he's got between 6 and 10 bhp more on tap if he gets it right.
