F250 Cadwell 12/13 Aug

MJ43 » Mon Aug 07, 2006 6:59 pm

Round 7 of the F250 championship brings us back to Cadwell Park for the second of our three visits this season. With the warmer weather the pace has certainly hotted up. Since Donington championship leader and reigning champion Alan Armour #4 (RGV) and Mark Jordan #96 (KR-1S) have given no quarter. With both having taken the same number of points since Donington, this continued at Mallory last week with each taking a win and a second place. Alan leads the series by virtue of Mark’s slow start to the year ‘…he doesn’t like the cold…’. However, the KR-1S rider is going to work hard to beat Alan on his home turf.

Though the old hands have dominated in the last few rounds keep an eye on this years crop of novices.

The find of the season is young Ross Searle #100 (RS250) currently third in the championship. Having dominated the first wet round at Mallory with two wins, Ross lost out last week to the speed of Mark and Alan’s machines. Ross will be praying for rain to level the playing field.

Another novice to watch is young Ben Phillips #162 (KR-1S). The lad comes from the same stable as Dan Hegarty and is on Dan’s old KR-1S.

Iain McDonald #137 on the beautifully turned out Riders Aprilia has been slowly racking up the points – a few good finishes and he could steal Ross’ third place.

With Dan Bateman (KR-1S) having to withdraw his entry following his tumble at Edwina’s it is up to Lee White #70, Kevin Tiernan #78 and John Hawkes #47 to support Mark Jordan and Ben Phillip’s flying the Kawasaki flag. Keep an eye on the battle between John Hawkes and Andy Slinn. The pair are battling for the lead in Division II of the F250 series and the fight is every bit as intense as that between Mark Jordan and Alan Armour. At Mallory they both finished within a few tenths of a second of each other. Andy took the first race and John the second.

This rounds dark horse is Richard Gordon #134 (RGV). Richard last years F250 novice champion will be looking to give a few of the more regular riders a run for their money.
