Did you get it done ?
What were the results ?
How was it done?
I have tried, but in this mechanically undeveloped country I couldn't find anyone who could remove a broken top stud.
I haven`t had this barrel done yet. I`ve had good results in the past.
Whoever drilled the broken stud in my spare barrel let the drill wander. So they just stuck a bolt through at an angle.
I managed to get the bit of the stud out that was left. So now I`m going to get the hole welded up & drill a new hole & tap a new thread.
In the past I`ve drilled out broken studs. Then cleaned out the hole with a tap. Have to drill it centrally.
If you`re not happy with the fit of the new stud after this you can fit a helicoil insert, you can buy kits in different sizes. You then drill the hole out larger than the original size. Use the special tap to cut a new thread. Then screw in the spring-like insert with the key which brings back the thread to the original size. You are left with a more hardwearing steel thread to fit the new stud to then.
Another method is spark errosion by a specialist.
I would`ve thought you should be able to find somewhere in Denmark to get one of these types of repair done?
