I think it was supposed to be a loan until you fitted your own barrel, the same way that Dave's was a loan 'til he got his replated!!
We actually had to pinch "Dave's" back off him for the Racer as we were short due to all the "loaning" going on, and the fact I killed two barrels myself last summer - once through stupidity and once through misfortune!!
