Run it on NZ plates and play ignorant if you get stopped!
Of course, "ignorance is no defence against the law", as they say, but in reality the UK cops are helpful if you are polite! (They get so much grief off tossers, that if you are nice to them, it usually completely throws them!!) Just blag it! Tell them you were told by the shipping company it was OK, and that all you had to do was apply to the DVLA within 12 months with the NZ registration documents, MOT (or whatever you use out there) and import doc's for a UK registration.
The simple fact is it may not be too far from the truth!
Just make sure you aren't stopped doing 45mph in a 30 limit, or something equally stupid, else you don't have a snowball in Hell's chance! _________________ Andy.
