When I bust my gear linkage I was halfway up one of the steepest hils in London, with rush hour traffic backin up behind me, stuck in 2nd gear. I thought finding an elastic band in my pocket was a stroke of luck, and fitting it one handed took the skill of a genius. The whole proceedure was undertaken whilst not letting go of the clutch. You see I didn't want to have to bump start it again as it was a pig to do first time round.

BTW Andy did you ever get round to changing that elastic band??? I think it was on there for 6months before I sold the bike to you!!
