Hello gfact46, and welcome.
It sounds very much to me that this is likely to be an electrical (rather than electronic) fault, as it is intermittent.
I would start by disconnecting each electrical connection in turn, and cleaning them to make sure the terminals have good conductivity and are tight. I imagine there is either a loose connection somewhere, or corrosion causing a poor electrical signal to the servo or its' controller.
