I just shipped a Honda RS250 from WA to CT last month. I went to the local bike shop and picked up one of their crates that a new '05 bike just arrived on (free). Put the RS in there, and had a company called Globaltranz (found on the internet) come pick it up. My door to his door was $640.

Do a search, you should be able to find someone pretty cheap and ship from door-to-door.
