Ahhh, the pleasures of owning a stroker and being at the race track.
I took took the 300 up to Bira circuit on Sunday morning for a bit of a shake down with it's latest bits and bobs: RS250 straight cut primary gears and complete clutch, RS250 ignition rotor and higher comp inserts for the VHM heads.
Wasn't 100% sure where to start, so threw some big jets in there and fired the old nail up. Tad rich methinks, as thick blue smoke filled the pit lane. Smelled good though on the fruity mix of avgas and A747.
Well, matey in the pit next door started moaning about stinky two strokes and the smell and the noise blah blah blah. I said look mate, it's a race track and this is a race bike so if you don't like it move somewhere else.
He kept on whining, but eventually moved when I said that he didn't hear me complaining about his noisy, smelly four stroke R1, or the fact that his pickup had been running all morning so that he could keep his unfit carcass cool in the air con.
He then had the cheek to tell me to get a "real" bike
At that point I just laughed and held the bike at 12,000rpm right in his face.
Some people have no idea
He may have a "real" bike (a very rare Yamaha R1, only ever seen a million of them), but somehow my little noisy smelly weed whacking buzz box was able to lap 15 seconds a lap faster than his Superbike. Funny that
I think the quote of the day was from Graham (High Side Tours): "I don't know how you have the patience with those bloody two strokes"........dunno what he meant as it was only the second time that morning that I'd pulled the heads off.
