j911brick: redirection of flow is not the function of a thermostat, its something extra build into it.
A thermostat controls temperature in an engine by restricting flow, giving lower cooling giving higher temp, OR increasing flow giving more cooling giving lower temp. Basta!
Thats all it does. When its fully opened, its function ceases. Then you can only get more cooling by removing it ( I talk only about the function a thermostat, if someone built a redirecting device or other into the thermostat is beside the point) as many thermostats decrease the diameter of the pipe where they sit.
Please don't just agree with the two guys, think and argue: how can the thermostat at the same time both decrease and increase cooling by the same mechanism: restriction of flow ??
I think we are moving dangerously close to the supernatural, but if anyone can finally expose the little devilish ghost in our bikes that burns out PGMs and reverses the physical laws in our cooling systems, I would be very happy.
