CBR vs SP shock

j911brick » Wed Oct 10, 2007 1:38 am

For the past few weeks I have been messing around with having my shock rebuilt. Technically these units are not rebuildable, and parts are not available.

At first we just needed a reservoir bladder. Turn out that many of the Showa shocks use the bladder. I bought a cbr shock for the bladder, then it turned out we realized we didn't need a bladder.

The cbr600f4 shock looks very similar to the nsr shock. I took some very quick measurements and it looks like it will fit. But the cbr shock does not have infinite adjustment and the spring is tapered. The body of the shock is also smaller and it uses a smaller valve than the nsr. Basically, none of the parts are usable on a nsr shock except the reservoir.

My tuner looked at the race-tech site and thought he ordered a gold valve kit for the shock, but when I asked him to look again he was not sure he ordered the right part. We think/hope the 46mm kit for the early 900rr will fit. He also received the wrong spring -again.

I leave for CSS tomorrow so I hope we can get worked out or I cant take the bike.
