I've only ever ridden ONE NSR with over-sized tyres that handled well, and that was on HRC rims with HRC suspension (StephenRC45's MC21-F3). It runs a 3.5" front and a 5" rear and when I first rode it it was on hand-cut Michelin Pilot slicks in, I think, 120 and 165.
Of the others I have ridden with over-sized tyres they have ranged from unstable to downright shocking!
It's very very difficult to equal, let alone beat, the handling of Honda's choice of 110/70x17 and 150/60x17 on the MC21 and MC28.
