I got bloody good (hard) mileage out of mine, but it was totally buggered by the time it was rebuilt! I wasn't missing any parts on mine, but the bearings were well worn.
That bearing MUST be replaced. Get a reputable specialist to do it, no messing. If it costs you $100 more to get someone good to do a single bearing, it could save you ten times that in the long run if it is bodged by the local cowboys!
