I didn't say it will be alright, in fact at some undetermind time in the not too distant future I believe it certainly will not be alright.
However what is going to happen here is quite possibly the fitting of new piston, rings, pin, bearing, clip etc to a damaged barrel which strikes me as folly and a waste of money, if you're going to chuck semi damaged things togeather that's fine, it'll probably work. If you're going to buy new bits then that's fine too, it'll probably work for longer. However fitting a new pin and bearing in a damaged barrel is like locking your upstairs windows and leaving the front door wide open.
