PGM IV

NSR71 » Sat May 03, 2008 2:12 pm

I have checked everything on my mc28, all the grounds, switches and still can't get it to fire. I did notice I never had anything going to the ignition coils. I checked for voltage, then used my multimeter which has a capacitor checker and it didn't seem right to me. I am an electrician and have check capacitors before, so I'm thinking the pgm is bad. I opened it up and the capacitors looked like they did have burn marks, or had been getting hot. I also notice 2 orange devices beside them (maybe resistors), but the covers or insulation had 2 cracks in each. Looking at the pgm there was nothing that looked totally evident it was bad. Would it be a choice of most of you to replace the pmg or try something else? I know this piece can get quit expensive, and could the pmg just go bad or is it usally something else that kills it? I guess I have to remember the bike is 14 years old. Thanks for the imput
