I did my first track day yesterday on my RS. All I can say is WOW!. This is without doubt the best handling machine I have ever rode. In my opinion its pretty easy to ride and pretty forgiving as well. Unfortunately I'm not able to ride it anywhere near its full potential. I was only in level two, but I pretty much owned the corners. The liter bikes walked away from me on the straights but I could drive circles around anybody in the corners. My biggest problem was not running into other bikes on turn-in since I usually had a much higher speed than they did.
I started with the jetting the bike came with (165/170) since the bike came from a similar climate. It turned out it may have been a tad rich, but it was still very ridable, and better rich than sorry. I did move the needles down one clip and that helped, and as well the bike was able to idle for the first time. Even though it was 90-95 degrees, with 90% humidity, I still had to tape up half the radiator to keep heat in it. Without the tape it would only get up to 55 deg. C. Air Density was 92-94. I also started with the gearing the bike came with (16/3 and figured it must have been geared for Road Atlanta. For Barber next week I dropped one tooth in front.
Anyway, I absolutely love this bike!
