Thats right it comes on when you turn on the ignition to check the bulb/system is working ok.This is so you know it is working and so you should notice if there are any problems before damaging the engine.
It should go out straight away after start up unless oil is required.
It refers to bikes 2 stroke oil not the transmission oil.
