I would say you certainly want at least MC21 SE/SP forks, if not something better.

The MC28 SE/SP front forks are better than the MC21 SE/SP, but will require the MC28 (or any similar late-type Honda) threaded calipers.

All can do with re-working for our heavier western frames, but a good start with the MC21 SE/SP forks is 12.5W oil. One big issue with the MC21 SE/SP forks is the limited rebound adjustment. The adjuster is pretty ineffective to be frank, so needs a little tweaking to get it to work effectively.

HRC F3 forks look outwardly similar to the MC21 forks, but are much more effective. They are rather rare though.

By far the best suspension to use is NF5/NX5 RS250 (USD or RWU), if you can get it, and if you are prepared to pay for it. Ideally you want 1990~ as before that they have no compression damping. You will need to use 296mm disks with the RS250 forks though, unless you go pre 1989 (but then you lose some of the aforementioned adjustment).
