Anything that causes a strain on the RC servo can burn out the control circuit. The most common causes are tight cables and excessive carbon build up on the Valves.

I've ridden an MC18 Mk1 with the RC Valves pinned open (with an Eric Gorr port job) and it didn't actually run too bad!
