Yesterday was the 18's 1st outing and I broke it.
After new tyres, plugs, air filter, a freshly rebuilt set of 21 forks and all the road gear removed it was doing fine and out dragging VFR400's for fun.
Then during the second session entering Hizzies the front brakes felt a touch spongy but where stopping the bike ok so carried on at full pace.
Approaching Druids at 95mph I grabbed the front brake and there was nothing there at all, the lever just went straight back to the bars.
There then followed much trying to avoid other bikes whilst standing on the rear brake trying to scrub some speed off.
I ended up riding into the gravel at 60+ and knew I wasnt going to stop it before the armco so laid it down. After a bit of gravel, sky, gravel, sky I eventually stopped thankfully without a bike on top of me as it stopped about 3 foot behind me.
Result.
Completely shagged top fairing, knackered helmet and in true gp style a broken little finger.
Once the bike was back in the paddock the lever came back.
I can only assume that the brake fluid had absorbed too much water and the water had boiled causing air in the system which once condensed again was ok.
Tips for the day.
1. When you buy a bike that's not turned a wheel for 3 years change ALL the fluids.
2. Always buy the best helmet you can afford.
