Yeah, personally I think that £50 could be much better spent on a set of new seals and some decent fork oil, and the remainder put towards some new stanchions if really needed.
There's nothing wrong with well maintained NSR forks to be honest. I have trick forks for my NSRs because (a) I'm a tart, and (b)... I'm a tart! My MC21SE forks only needed an overhaul, but at the time I managed to source a complete 1990 HRC NF5 front-end for almost nothing. The other front-ends were sourced part by part, and took years to put together.
