Slightly off topic

I havn't ever worked on a MC28, so please excuse my ignorance, but are they a magnetic type card simular to a credit card ?

Has anyone tryed to 'copy' a card using a card scanner ? Its technology from the early 90's, so surely there must be a way to copy them this day and age.
