hi rollo and welcome to the forum!!!

please take my advice and listen to what i have to say!!!

first off i wanted a mc28 just like yourself and decided to find the best one available so after a good search of the net it was clear to me that fastline motorcycles in preston was the only shop that was bringing them in to uk also had a few in stock,
so off i went to there shop to see what i could buy.

there was only 1 mc28se left which to look as was 98% mint ( just a couple of chips and non standard parts fitted)
the bike was a 1996 and had a CLAIMED 3200KM so verry little miles..
we shook hands at £4000 and i was given 12 months mot and 3 months warrenty.
bike was delivered and i was over the moon.
1st test ride was around the block. the chain was shot and making a horrible clicking ( tight spot ) so i came streight back.
2nd test ride lasted 20mins and ended up recovered home ( regulator failed and fried the battery)
3rd test ride lasted 30mins and ended up recovered home ( 2 stroke pump seal slid down the pump shaft and drained all the 2t oil into the gearbox which the overflowed onto my back wheel).

i am now thinking this bike should just be a show peice so the only thing that wanted minting up was the exhaust chambers so i took them off to be re-coated.
WHAT THE F**K as i looked up the exhaust ports the top cylinder had scoring marks on the piston so this ended up 2 full top end rebuild kits.
after a load of head scratching and a load of throwing my teddys about the bike was doing my head in and ill be man enough to say
i was scared of riding it because i thought there will be something else.
i did have a few more trips out on it but not far from home.

i also noticed a slight drip of oil ( 2 srtoke ) coming from the flywheel cover though this didnt affect the performance. that was the last straw as i didnt want and didnt have the £5-600 for a new crank rebuild..

my advice would be to buy a used well maintained bike as the ones that have been stood develop hard frail engine seals etc......

this is only my experiance and would love another nsr just not a low milage MINTER hope this helps
