When you say never, how long do you mean? 30,000 kilometers? Less? If you mean that, then your probably on track.
Start with assembly. Make sure the engine components are all in new condition, seals are all good and your work areas and parts are spotless. Build the engine to spec. Proper torque, proper procedure, use good amount of oil on all moving parts. Adjust the oil pump to spec, use good quality oil, set jetting to spec, use good air filter, replace on a regular basis. Use high quality gear oil, etc., etc.
When you go for a ride, let the bike warm up, don't start it and wring it's neck.
That should get you a good high mileage bike without doing bottom ends till 30,000 kilometers.
Oh, don't try to do top speed long straight runs against R1's
