Most shocks seem to be too long. The '16 and '18 has a rather short shock, and it can be a pain in the ass to find one as short, and the old CBR600 is the only one I've noticed with such a short shock.

It's OK going 10~15mm longer, but go any more and it starts to complicate things. There's probably other short shocks out there like you say, but it's nice to keep it Honda in my opinion, and to be honest I've never bothered looking for anything else like a Kawasaki or Yamaha shock. You're much more likely to get something that's a direct (or close) swap if it's Honda I think.

I'm sure there will be plenty of MC16 owners keen to hear if you find a cheap, fully adjustable alternative (from any make) though.
