They are worth whatever someone at the time will pay for them. If you're desperate, then you'll pay £150 for a used barrel, if you're not then you could probably get one for £50!

The best place to get a barrel is Yahoo! Japan. Often you will see a pair of barrels. One is generally good, the other often shot, but usually good for plating. Sometimes even both will be good! Get them shipped surface mail, and you're laughing. I've picked up complete pairs of MC21 barrels/heads/pistons for about £150 before.

I've got 2 brand new R5K barrels I may consider selling for £350.
