Someone has implied in the main forum that you should dump the air solenoids.
Now I wouldn't expect to make any top end gains from this, but would you make any real losses?
Losing all those pipes and wiring would certainly be nice and looking at the '88 F3 manual it's clear that HRC did exactly that; dump the air solenoids (and TPS) and use an NF5 RS ignition.
There wasn't even (in the manual at least) specific F3 carbs then, the carb kit is just a ton of jets and needles.
Neither does that much anyway, I unplugged both on my '28 trying to solve an electrical fault and in the couple of miles I rode it (on the road, in traffic) I couldn't tell any difference.
We also back to back tested stock and f3 PGM-II's, now it's unlikely the f3 PGM-II does anything with either the TPS info or with the solenoids (as the bike shouldn't have them) but there was once again nothing in it between the PGM's on a stock(ish) motor with the TPS and solenoids in place.
Anyone any idea? Anyone going to divulge anything?
