I checked the subframe the best I could and the only stickers I could find were in Japanese and nothing as you describe above. If you (or anyone) had a more specific location or photo of what I'm looking for maybe I might get lucky.
I guess I was mistaken in thinking that the R was the more common model and the SE's and SP's were the more advanced models.
The bike shows 96 on all the paperwork but that could easily have changed over the course of being imported and re-titled a few times.
