Well, at least PB dedicated a few pages to the NSR, so respect to them. These guys certainly are enthusiastic about 2-Strokes and the NSR in particular.
But it was almost they shaped the article's message around the restricted nature of the MC28. John at Fastline was quoted as saying these bikes are not about the top-end.
Granted, they are very torquey for a 250 2T, but that is a useful secondary benefit, but not without the top end kicking in above 8K RPM.
PB measured 43 BHP on the Dyno. An unrestricted / mildly tuned MC18 / 21 would give approx 40% more power than this, which is huge.
In relative percentage terms, its like having a 5 year old Fireblade with a standard 150 BHP engine, then slotting in a full sauce WSB race engine with around 210 BHP. The difference would be mind-blowing if the rider was only used to the lower power.
