Please bear with my ramblings but you may need the information to give me help.
The welds on my chambers are failing at an alarming rate.
Its a 300 motor with TYGA side by side chambers and mufflers.
They were held at the head with springs onto the angled collar thingy and secured at the central mounting point above the expansion chamber.
The left exhaust snapped off last year immediately after the expansion where the narrow pipe joins. There is actually a supporting plate here too, still fell off though.
I blamed the fact that the spring attachment (not being rigid) allowed enough movement for the pipe to 'wag' after the anchor point and eventually, due to the weight of the muffler weaken and snap this weld.
So I got the angled collars welded to the header pipes and I then had a lovely rigid system and also ended the annoying oil issues I had here.
This worked for a year untill my recent trip.
Now the right side has 3 failed welds (central mounting plate, after expansion chamber- same as left side, and at the header pipe where it simply ripped itself off the mounting collar)
Here are my questions
*Is the system under too much stress now that its rigidly mounted?
*Is the standard 250 motor and chambers held together with springs or rigidly mounted?
*Do I need to manufacture mounting brackets from the mufflers to my GP rear sub-frame to support them?
*Are there any more substantially constructed systems out there to fit the 300 motor that still gives me full power?
Has anyone ever made their own using the TYGA system as a model?
*Has anyone else suffered these problems?
This is no way a pop at TYGA chambers because I'm sure I ask too much from them and maybe they belong on a circuit, but I built the bike to ride (not to put it on a coffee table) so need to fix it with improvements.
I'm fed up with the only advice I get from my friends -Why dont you buy a real bike (poor souls) so I turn to you good people.
